Malvern Minerals, located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, mines and produces silica flour under the brand name, Novacite®. Originally established in 1947, Malvern Minerals has adapted over the years to find acceptance in numerous industries. Novacite's naturally-occurring physical characteristics are unique in the market and can only be found in Hot Springs. Malvern Minerals is committed to reliability in product standards and delivery. Over a half-century of operation proves our ability to meet demands in an evolving market while adhering to our credo, "Excellence with Integrity".
Our History
Around 1935, whetstone miners propected central Arkansas for hard novaculite, but found instead the less cemented variety called tripoli, a white microcrystalline silica powder. An industrious group of visionaries saw a future for tripoli, and marketed it as Novacite®.
- 1940s - Company established
- 1950s - Company grows at an accellerated pace to include foreign customers
- 1970s - Operations broadened to include surface treatment of raw materials
- 1980s - 2nd reserve opened
- 1990s - 3rd reserve opened providing a 90 year reserve
- 2006 - Equipment overhaul increases capacity and leads to 98% reliability
- 2009 - Company poised for tremendous growth and brings on dedicated sales professional
